Scope of Work

The Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB) issues a specialty contractor classification 'C-8 — Glass and Glazing' under NAC § 624. Per NAC § 624.6018, a person who holds a C-8 license may install, repair, and replace glass and glass products, glass-holding members, frames, and hardware, including the glazing of frames, panels, sash, and doors; and may install window walls and store fronts (including the installation of lightweight metal). The C-8 also covers automatic and revolving doors, and enclosures for showers, tubs, and toilet partitions. Licensing Threshold

Nevada requires every contractor (including subcontractors and specialty contractors) to be licensed before submitting bids. NAC § 624 governs application standards and prohibits unlicensed bidding or contracting in any of the C-classifications, including C-8. Application Documentation

Applicants submit reference certificates documenting experience, a detailed resume of experience, a financial statement, and supporting documents demonstrating qualifying experience. The applicant designates a Qualified Individual (Qualifier) who personally meets the experience requirements and serves as the technical authority on the license. Source: NSCB General Requirements (https://www.nvcontractorsboard.com/licensing/faq-for-general-requirements/).

Experience Requirement

The Qualifier must have at least four years of journey-level experience in the C-8 specialty within the ten years preceding the application. Source: NAC § 624 (https://www.leg.state.nv.us/nac/nac-624.html).

Exams

Applicants must pass two exams: a Trade exam covering C-8 glazing scope, and the Nevada Business and Law exam. Both are administered by NSCB's designated testing vendor. Source: NSCB General Requirements (https://www.nvcontractorsboard.com/licensing/faq-for-general-requirements/).

Financial and Bond Requirements

Applicants submit a financial statement supporting the requested monetary limit on the license, plus a contractor's bond in an amount tied to that monetary limit. The financial statement may need to be audited or reviewed depending on the limit requested. Note on Scope

C-8 is a contractor (business) license rather than an individual journeyperson credential. Nevada does not issue a separate individual glazier journey card. A Qualifier on a C-8 license must personally hold the qualifying experience; technicians working under a C-8 contractor do not need a separate state-issued credential.
