An Iowa Journeyperson Sheet Metal license authorizes the holder, working under the direction of a master licensed in the discipline, to design, install, and repair sheet metal systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning ductwork, pollution-control ducts, and fume-hood systems, excluding refrigeration, electrical lines, and gas lines. Experience and Training
Applicants must have completed at least 42 months in a U.S. Department of Labor-registered apprentice program in the sheet metal discipline, or have a minimum of four years of relevant experience. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Source: Iowa DIAL Sheet Metal license materials.
Exam
The Journeyperson Sheet Metal examination is administered by Kirkwood Community College on behalf of the Plumbing and Mechanical Systems Board.
