12 hours every 2 years

Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) under 248 CMR 11.04 requires 12 hours per 2-year renewal cycle for master and journeyman plumbers, delivered in two 6-hour sessions from a Board-approved provider. Session topics follow an agenda set by the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters for each cycle. Licenses expire May 1 of even-numbered years; biennial renewal fee is $52 per the DPL fee schedule. Gas fitters are subject to the same MCE framework under a separate gas-fitting agenda.
