State CE requirement

IOWA · plumber

8 hours every 3 years

Iowa plumbing licenses renew on a 3-year cycle on a common board schedule. PMSB requires at least 8 hours of classroom instruction per 3-year cycle for a single-discipline plumbing license, distributed as 2 hours safety (Iowa Occupational Health and Safety), 2 hours plumbing code, and 4 hours in the current license discipline. Licensees who hold two separate, uncombined mechanical and plumbing licenses are required to complete 14 hours of continuing education per cycle. Up to half of the required hours may be completed through an approved online course. PMSB does not track CE centrally; licensees must maintain their own records and submit them with the renewal application. Source: Iowa DIAL PMSB Continuing Education and Training.
