The Illinois Department of Public Health requires 4 hours of continuing education each license year for licensed plumbers under the Illinois Plumbing License Law (225 ILCS 320). Licenses expire April 30 annually and must be renewed through IDPH's online portal. New licensees are exempt from CE during their first license year. Course topics include the Illinois Plumbing Code, public health and state licensing law, materials and fixtures, drainage and venting, water distribution, and safety and inspection procedures; the full list of approved courses and sponsors is published by IDPH.
