Continuing education — electricians in Illinois

State CE requirement

ILLINOIS · electrician

hours every years

Illinois does not license electricians statewide, so there is no statewide continuing-education mandate. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) does not list electricians among its regulated professions (https://idfpr.illinois.gov/profs/proflist.html). Continuing-education rules, when they exist, are set by the municipality that issues the credential; in Chicago, Electrical Contractor and Supervising Electrician licenses renew annually through the Department of Buildings web portal (https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/bldgs/supp_info/H7licenserenewal.html). Verify CE hours and approved providers with the specific city or village where the license is held before each renewal cycle.
