MONTANA · electrician

16 hours every 2 years

The Montana Board of Electrical, within the Business Standards Division at the Department of Labor & Industry, requires electrician licensees to complete 16 hours of board-approved continuing education every two years, per Administrative Rules of Montana (ARM) 24.141. Hours must include a National Electrical Code update course based on the edition currently adopted by Montana. Only board-approved providers and courses count toward the requirement. Licensees renew annually; CE must be documented across the two-year cycle to remain eligible for renewal. Verify the current hour breakdown (by class), approved courses, and NEC edition on the Montana Board of Electrical CE page (https://boards.bsd.dli.mt.gov/electrical/continuing-education) before each renewal.
