Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) requires Master Electricians and Journeyman Electricians to complete 24 hours of continuing education during each four-year renewal period, with at least 4 hours covering the current National Electrical Code (NEC) or Wisconsin-specific electrical code amendments. Industrial Journeyman, Residential Journeyman, and Residential Master Electrician classes carry an 18-hour requirement over the same four-year cycle. CE must be completed before the March 30 deadline in the year the credential expires; licenses renew June 30 every four years.
