Continuing education — electricians in Ohio

State CE requirement

OHIO · electrician

8 hours every 1 year

The Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board (OCILB) requires 8 hours of approved continuing education per year of licensure for Electrical Contractors, with content focused on the National Electrical Code edition currently adopted by Ohio and on Ohio-specific statutes and rules. Licensees who elect the 3-year renewal cycle must complete 24 hours total across the cycle. Delivery-format rules (in-person vs. online on-demand) are set by OCILB rule and should be verified on the board's CE page before enrolling. Non-OCILB-approved courses do not count toward renewal.
