10 hours every 1 year

Ohio Administrative Code 4101:16-2-08 requires 10 hours of OCILB-approved continuing education per annual renewal, or 30 hours over a three-year cycle for licensees who elect triennial renewal. CE topics are set each cycle by the HVAC section of the OCILB and emphasize the currently adopted Ohio Mechanical Code, Ohio licensing law (ORC Chapter 4740), and OSHA safety. EPA Section 608 technician certification for handling refrigerants is a separate federal credential under 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F, and does not expire; it is held in addition to, not in place of, OCILB CE. Licensees enrolled in OCILB's Compliant Contractor Program under OAC 4101:16-1-08 receive a 2-hour annual reduction (8 hours annual / 24 hours triennial).
