Continuing education — hvac technicians in New Mexico

State CE requirement

NEW-MEXICO · hvac

hours every 1 year

New Mexico's Construction Industries Division (CID) licenses mechanical (HVAC/refrigeration/plumbing) contractors (MM-98, MM-2, MS-3) and journeymen under NMSA 60-13 and 14.5.1 / 14.8 NMAC. Licenses renew annually. Licensees must complete continuing-education hours each renewal under 14.5.1 NMAC, including mechanical-code update instruction based on the Uniform Mechanical Code and Fuel Gas Code editions currently adopted by New Mexico. The exact hour count is set by CID rule. Only CID-approved providers and courses count. EPA Section 608 technician certification is separate and does not expire, per EPA (https://www.epa.gov/section608/section-608-technician-certification). Verify the current state CE hour requirement and mechanical-code edition on the CID Continuing Education page (https://www.rld.nm.gov/construction-industries/continuing-education/) before each renewal.
