Nebraska does not license HVAC technicians or contractors at the state level, so there is no state-mandated HVAC continuing education requirement. HVAC licensing is handled at the municipal level. In Omaha, the City of Omaha Planning Department Air Conditioning / Air Distribution (ACAD) Board administers HVAC licensing with its own renewal cycle and any continuing-education requirements set by local ordinance. In Lincoln, the City of Lincoln Department of Building and Safety administers HVAC licensing. Other Nebraska cities maintain individual HVAC licensing frameworks. Technicians who handle regulated refrigerants must hold current EPA Section 608 certification under 40 CFR Part 82 Subpart F; Section 608 itself does not require periodic CE but certificate holders should retain proof of certification. Verify the current CE requirement with the city that issued the local license. Source: EPA Section 608 Technician Certification.
