Under SC Code of Regulations 8-150, CLB mechanical specialty licensees, including HVAC contractors, must complete 24 hours of approved continuing education per 2-year registration cycle. The reporting period runs July 1 to June 30 of each odd-numbered year. Hours cannot be carried over to the next cycle. Federal EPA Section 608 Technician Certification is a separate federal requirement and does not expire, but any technician who services stationary refrigerant equipment must hold it. Residential Specialty HVAC contractors licensed under the SC Residential Builders Commission are not currently required to complete CE to renew; confirm current RBC CE status before renewal.
