hours every 3 years

Michigan mechanical contractor licenses renew on a 3-year cycle expiring August 31 and must be renewed by October 31. Continuing competency each cycle must cover the current Michigan Mechanical Code (2021 edition, Part 9A of the state construction code, effective March 12, 2024) and any interim code amendments adopted under 1972 PA 230. LARA has not published a fixed statutory CE hour count for mechanical contractors equivalent to the builder/MAC 21-hour rule; licensees should confirm the required hour count for the current renewal cycle with the LARA Bureau of Construction Codes, Mechanical Division before enrolling.
