6 hours every 3 years
Oklahoma Construction Industries Board requires 6 hours of continuing education every 3 years (36 months) preceding the license expiration date, for both mechanical journeymen and mechanical contractors (including the Unlimited Mechanical HVAC category). CE material must cover codes and revisions adopted by the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission (OUBCC) and trade-related topics approved by the Mechanical Examiners Committee. A licensee is exempt from CE for the first 3 years after passing the current licensing exam. HVAC technicians who work on equipment containing regulated refrigerants must separately maintain federal EPA Section 608 certification under 40 CFR Part 82 Subpart F.
